What is a consignment?

A consignment is an item of personal property that we sell on your behalf. You own the item until it is sold.

An estimate is the price range where we anticipate a consignment will sell at auction. An estimate includes a low estimate to a a high estimate, e.g. $1,000 – $2,000.

Estimates are based on past auction records, strength of the market, availability on the market, condition, and desirability.

Yes. A reserve is the lowest amount that you authorize your property to be sold for at auction.  A reserve is not listed at auction or otherwise made public.

To photograph and catalogue your item, it should be at Locke at least six weeks prior to the sale.

Our services are tailored to the individual, so these will vary according to factors such as the value or desirability of the property, or the size of the consignment. In other words, we do not have standard commission terms.
